Here is the final clock display. I added color options to the settings menu. I am pretty happy with the results. I completely switched gear from the last video. I started using a graphics library for Flex 3 and very happy with the results. The down side is I scrapped the idea of uploading an image to the clock face. In the process of creating this version I broke the count down. Well, I did not really break it. The count down is hidden behind the clock face. I am having some issue with bring it to the front. This video shows a quick test running OpenSprints in the test mode.
I spent a few hours tonight refining the clock face race display. This is the latest alpha release. I am pretty happy with it. Much larger than my first version and the racer boxes are not flush left. In the process I created a way to define new layouts. This opens up the door for other layouts like the clock face centered and the boxes in the corners. I still have a few tricks up my sleeve for the clock face race display so check back this weekend for those.
I found a few bugs in the process of creating the ability to change the layout and race display options. Getting closer to the beta. I need to stop adding the new shit!
I have most of the functionality added for the clock-style race display. I need to add a transparency option to the settings screen yet. Have a look and let me know what you think.
This weekend I am going to toy with the idea of running the racer colored boxes down the left or right hand side instead of the bottom of the screen. This will allow the circle and the racer hands to be much larger.
As of today six people have taken to the poll asking what race display they like the best in a goldsprint event. I was surprised that all six said the clock style face was their number one choice. Since this is not in the current version of the OpenSprint software, people must be using an old version. OpenSprints dropped the clock-style display a while ago. Maybe it will make a return in a future version.
Since the clock-style display seems to be the display of choice I am going to work on adding it this week. I will try to get it added as soon as possible and get a video up. In order to add the clock-style display I need to also add a new setting to allow users to select what display they way. That is actually the easy part. Another feature I will add is the ability to import a clock face so you can customize it to your liking. Getting the hands moving shouldn’t be that hard but keep your eye on the blog for more details.
